Night at the Museum

*imdb.com
Ok, I have a new favorite film. I LOVE it!! Seriously, I don't like to over-praise it as to disappoint anyone who may not have seen it yet, but I really don't see how that could be possible!

It stars Ben Stiller at his finest (and cleanest), and movie greats as Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, and Robin Williams. I won't dispel much of the plot, but basically Ben Stiller is a night security guard at a museum where everything comes to life! And it's very cool.

Best part is, it's only rated PG and one of the best examples of good clean fun in a theatre I've seen. There's only two swear words that I noticed, and the movie is just laugh-out-loud funny! The whole audience will be rolling, and the kids will be enthralled to spend a night at this museum.

We should all get out and support such good entertainment at the box office. I did. Three times. Enjoy!

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (#2)

*IMDB.com
I saw this after much anticipation (and a lot of time in long lines). It was a good movie, entertaining enough, I guess, but I must say I was disappointed.

The special effects were amazing and the sword-fight scenes excellently choreographed. I liked that they developed Will Turner's character a little more in this film (what can I say, I have a bit of a crush on Orlando Bloom), and who could not like charming Jack Sparrow?

However, I also thought it was a bit too gory and a little... too... long... Maybe it was because it was late and I was tired, but I checked my watch three times throughout the movie! Never a good sign.

Don't get me wrong - I liked the movie alright - I just thought they were trying too hard. They tried to recreate everything good in the original and add to it, but it ended up being on the verge of ridiculous, and far too violent for a family film. Silly Rabbit, "Pirates" is NOT for kids!
